All the products we make have specifications. If however, you need special tests performed, please discuss this requirement with the Sales Manager.

TPU has good general solvent resistance, however there are certain chemicals that it does not have good resistance against. Avoid strong acids and bases. Always test the solvent on the TPU part to ensure suitability.

For stock lines our minimum package size for RE-ADD and RE-FLEX is a 25kg bag. For RE-PLAS and RE-POL the minimum package size is 220kg. If you are developing a product, talk to our customer service to see if we have sample quantities available.

RE-PLAS grades can be used with a range of resins, such as PVC, rubber, PVA and acrylics to improve flexibility.

For every delivery we can supply a Quality Certificate that shows the test properties. All grades that we supply have full product traceability.

RE-PLAS plasticisers are high molecular weight polymeric plasticisers and have different raw materials to the phthalate plasticisers.

RE-ADD urethane adducts will have their properties enhanced if a curative is used. The main benefit is an improvement in heat resistance and the need to cure will depend on the RE-ADD grade that is chosen and the application.

There are a number of curatives that can be used to cure saturated polyester polyols and factors such as cure time, light fastness and handling precautions need to be considered.

Prior to usage, all TPU grades need to be thoroughly dried. As TPU is a hydroscopic material it will readily absorb moisture. Consequently, you will need to dry the TPU even if the material has been dried previously. Once moulded, however special conditioning of the part, unlike some plastics, is not required.

A number of grades of Townsend RE-PLAS plasticisers can be used for food contact applications as they comply with relevant Australian, European and USA standards.

This term is used to describe thermoplastic polyurethanes that are hydroxyl terminated and can be further reacted. Townsend Chemicals’ range of urethane adducts are used primarily as adhesives, but can also be used as binders and coatings.

TPU is supplied in natural pellets and is coloured by the addition of a compatible colour masterbatch.

Standard packaging includes drums and bags, but for larger quantities, IBC's, bulk bags or bulk tanks can be supplied.

Polymeric plasticisers are higher molecular weight plasticisers that offer improved extraction resistance to a range of chemicals such as petrol and oils.

Thermoplastic polyurethanes are based on the linear polyols and can be reprocessed a number of times, whilst thermoset polyurethanes are cross-linked. In general, both types of polyurethanes have similar properties but usage is dependent on the application.
